  • by

Youth4DRR has officially been invited to serve as a member of the pan-European Mental Health Coalition. This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards supporting the implementation of the World Health Organization (WHO) European Framework for Action on Mental Health 2021-2025 (EFAMH), focusing on delivering substantial improvements to mental health systems throughout the region.

Launched in Brussels, the Coalition commenced its journey with the support and presence of Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, underscoring the initiative’s prominence and commitment to mental health advocacy. The Coalition is a dynamic partnership designed to enhance mental health care and support across the WHO European Region. It aims to bridge the existing gaps in mental health services by uniting national leaders, health professionals, civil society members, international organization representatives, and experts in a collective effort to bring mental health care to the forefront of health policy and practice.

Youth4DRR’s involvement with the Coalition is poised to bring a fresh perspective and energy to the consortium, particularly in addressing the needs of younger populations. By joining forces with the Coalition, Youth4DRR pledges to contribute to the transformation of mental health services, ensuring that mental health considerations are integral to emergency response and recovery operations. This partnership underscores the importance of a holistic approach to health that encompasses both physical and mental well-being, especially in times of crisis.

The Coalition has outlined key priorities that align with the objectives of the EFAMH, focusing on transforming mental health services to be more accessible and integrated into broader health and social care systems. A significant aspect of this collaboration is the emphasis on integrating mental health into emergency response and recovery efforts, recognizing the critical need for mental health support in times of crisis. Furthermore, the Coalition aims to promote mental health and prevent mental ill health across all stages of life, advocating for proactive measures to support well-being.

Youth4DRR’s membership in the pan-European Mental Health Coalition represents a milestone in the collective journey towards improving mental health care and support across Europe. Through this partnership, Youth4DRR and the Coalition are committed to making mental health a priority, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or background, has access to the support and services they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
